I Work the Tenderloin

A day in the life of tenant organzer Joe Singleton. Joe's fighting to help keep low income people in residential hotels in San Francisco that unscrupulous developers have other plans for. The latter want to turn the buildings into much more lucrative tourist hotels. There's just one problem. The low income tenants, some of whom have lived there for decades, are mucking up their plans. Joe comes to their aid, using every trick in the book and some just made up on the spot to help these people remain in the homes they want and deserve. All this is happening as the shadow of the Reagan era is looming over all.
This book is out of print, but perhaps may be found in the library of the San Francisco Tenants Union, 558 Capp Street, San Francisco.

The Tenderloin book sounds very interesting with unique concepts.I just wanted to know whether this book is available online. So that it would be easy to read online for all who cannot find it in any store.
Great Writing
I Work the Tenderloin is a great piece of writing. Joe Singleton is an inspirational character to say the least. This story really captivates the reader and evokes feelings of empathy for the low income tenants. Distaste is felt for the the way that they are treated and for the fact that these larger, wealthier entities are playing games with people's lives. It has been some time since I last read this book. I wish it was still in print.
