I Work the Tenderloin

A day in the life of tenant organzer Joe Singleton. Joe's fighting to help keep low income people in residential hotels in San Francisco that unscrupulous developers have other plans for. The latter want to turn the buildings into much more lucrative tourist hotels. There's just one problem. The low income tenants, some of whom have lived there for decades, are mucking up their plans. Joe comes to their aid, using every trick in the book and some just made up on the spot to help these people remain in the homes they want and deserve. All this is happening as the shadow of the Reagan era is looming over all.
This book is out of print, but perhaps may be found in the library of the San Francisco Tenants Union, 558 Capp Street, San Francisco.
